Personal home pages are the renter’s insurance of the web. Everyone knows they should have one, but they’re not really convinced they’re worth the trouble, and not really sure how to go about it anyway. I mentioned this to a developer friend the other day, but she just shrugged her shoulders and said “oh it’s not that hard. Just use Squarespace or something and you’ll be done in an afternoon.”
So, you know, that’s what I did. Squarespace is one of the latest in the “build your website without coding” genre of services. Like its predecessors About.Me and Flavors.me, Squarespace offers a myriad of templates, fonts, and other design options so that you can customize the look and content of your site. The platform goes a bit beyond some of the other players as well with support for video and photo galleries, and their dedicated @squarespacehelp Twitter feed hits you back with help in under an hour. Maybe this month you finally get that coverage you’ve been thinking about.
