How long are your contracts?

Unless you sign up for our yearly plan, all Squarespace account plans are
month to month. We make it simple to start — and stop — your service at any time.

Is there a discount for yearly service?

Yes, we offer a 10% discount on up-front yearly commitments. There are no refunds on yearly service contracts.

How do I sign up?

You start with a free trial! We don't collect your credit card until your trial is over and you're ready to sign up. You can upgrade from your trial to a paid account in the Billing Details area of your site manager once you determine there's a fit.

Why don't you offer 10,000TB of bandwidth for $2.99?

Because our service is reliable. With a shared web host, they're able to offer massive amounts of storage and bandwidth because it's literally impossible for you to use it. Your site would crash on a shared host if you sent that much data from your site. Seriously — go try it.

Can I switch plans?

Yes, at any time. This is handled automatically in your site manager. When upgrading or downgrading your website plan, you will receive either a partial-month upgrade fee, or a partial-month refund depending on the cost of your new plan.

Can I download Squarespace?

No. Squarespace is a hosted web service. We do not have plans to make a downloadable version, partially because our unique hosting architecture is such a strong point of our service. To put Squarespace on a shared web host would be to ruin it. Squarespace provides many standard methods for exporting your data should you need to move.

How do I cancel service?

Right next to the button you used to sign up. Canceling Squarespace is an instantaneous and no questions asked process. It's done online right from your site manager.

Do I need another web host?

No. All Squarespace plans include our grid hosting service, ensuring your site remains up under any amount of load. You do not need another hosting service with Squarespace. It's a complete, fully managed package.

Why isn't Squarespace free?

Squarespace provides a premium, time saving service and charges for it. We believe in a direct and honest relationship with our customers. Because we charge for our service and have a stable business model, we don't need to make decisions later on that would compromise our integrity in order to make money from our users.

Your time will be saved. If these things don't matter to you, then Squarespace is likely not going to be a good choice. After all, no software is really free, because your time isn't free.
