Dropshipping is one way to start earning money while cutting out some of the more difficult barriers to starting an online store. If you’re an artist or content creator, for example, dropshipping means you can sell print on demand prints, products, or clothing without managing production, inventory, or shipping yourself. Or you might start a store that dropships bulk products to start your ecommerce journey.

The best dropshipping websites share similarities with a standard online store. In the examples below, you’ll see each site has high-quality imagery, layouts that showcase the products well, helpful product descriptions, and details that speak to the quality of the products.

1. Alameda

This online storefront design is ideal for a simple dropshipping website. If you mostly plan to sell the same type of products, this could be a good choice. Category navigation makes it easy for customers to find what they’re looking for. On the flip side, trying to sell in too many categories could make for an overwhelming shopping experience.

For example, you might use this website layout to focus on home decor. But it could be confusing to try to sell clothing, home decor, and kitchen accessories at the same time.

2. Anise

The Anise website template is a good example of a website that conveys trustworthiness and quality, two things that are important to signal in a dropshipping website. While this website example is for a jewelry designer, there are tips you can take away for a dropshipping site.

The details are especially important. For this website, the business uses high-quality photography and descriptions of materials to market the jewelry as a premium product. Paired with a minimal design, visitors get an impression of a higher-priced, luxury product.

3. Zaatar

This ecommerce website template is a good starting point for a dropshipping website because its design mirrors the type of online store design shoppers are familiar with. Use the scrolling announcement bar and hero image to highlight sales or featured items. And use sections on the homepage to highlight recent additions or collections of products.

The website also includes a blog page, which is a helpful strategy for helping your business get discovered. Writing about commonly searched topics related to the products you sell can help more people find your website organically.

4. Maca

If you plan to dropship products, your product details are extra important. Potential customers don’t have a physical item to reference, so they’re relying on you to highlight what they’re buying and why they should buy it.

This example site does a great job of highlighting key value propositions around efficacy, ethical sourcing, and benefits (“Discover your softest skin yet”). And on each product page, the business doubles down, highlighting ingredients and usage instructions.

5. Jotter Press

This website does a good job of using visuals and product descriptions to sell products without having physical items to photograph. By relying on the cover art of the books and handy site animations, the product listings still reflect the energy and personality behind each product.

For clothing products, the product descriptions highlight the materials, how to pair it with other products, and suggest how you can wear it. That makes the item feel more tangible to a shopper, even if they can’t see or touch it in person. With more details, someone can feel more confident in their buying decision.
